Bengkung is the ancient Malaysian art of belly binding using a cloth abdominal wrap to promote faster recovery and provide support to a mother’s body during the postpartum period. The modern postpartum wrap is based on a traditional design, but has extra thread through loop holes for ease of use.

This style gives 360 degree support to assist the abdominal wall muscle retraction, improve posture, stabilize loosened ligaments, and provide support to the torso while vital organs return to their pre-‐pregnancy size and position.

During the wrapping process, the mother is customarily given a massage with a herbal oil are applied to further facilitate the healing process. We recommend using of our Ayurvedic balancing body oils. This method of belly binding has increasingly become a holistic alternative to waist training garments and girdles more common in Western cultures.

Reported benefits include:

  • Provides postural support for the torso and organs as they return to pre-‐ pregnancy position.
  • Aides in restoring abdominal wall and diastasis recti recovery.
  • Prevents and relieves shoulder and back discomfort.
  • Reduction of excess fluid and air in the abdominal tissue and cells.
  • Improves circulation.
  • Decreases the length of postpartum bleeding.
  • Provides physical comfort and support.
  • Stabilization for ligaments.
  • Prevents slouching while nursing your baby.

Please note the Modern Bengkung has specific sizes to account for wider abdominal areas.

Please choose a bengkung size that is 1 size bigger than your pre-pregnancy size. For example if you were a M pre-pregnancy than choose a L/XL for extra comfort.

Please note the Modern Bengkung has specific sizes to account for wider abdominal areas.

Please choose a bengkung size that is 1 size bigger than your pre-pregnancy size. For example if you were a M pre-pregnancy than choose a L/XL for extra comfort.

              How do I use?

Belly binding can easily be done alone or for extra benefits have a trusted support person help you with massage and binding.

              1. Prepare Your Bengkung: Locate the center of the Bengkung—this is where your wellness journey begins.

              2. Wrap It Right: Stand in front of your Bengkung and secure the center around your belly, ensuring it's snug but not too tight.

              3. Wrap, Wrap, Wrap: Begin wrapping one end around your back and bring it to the front, crossing over the center piece. Repeat this process with the other end, crossing over the previous piece. Continue wrapping until you've used the entire length.

              4. Secure and Embrace the Magic: Tuck the ends securely, and feel the Bengkung's gentle embrace. Wear it during the day or while you sleep for maximum benefits.

              5. Practice Self-Care: While wearing your Bengkung, take this time to nurture yourself. Practice deep breathing, gentle movements, and embrace the rejuvenation that comes with it.

This form is the easiest to use as it has thread through loops that guide you to be able to bind easily without tying any knots. We recommend this type of bengkung for those who prefer a more simple and user-friendly approach to belly binding.

Traditionally, herbal pastes are applied to the abdomen prior to wrapping, as these can be messy it is convenient and highly effective to use herbal medicated oils as an alternative. Our organic Ayurvedic oils were formulated in consultation with a global leading Ayurvedic practitioner to optimise recovery.

Each Bengkung comes with its own calico bag for easy storage and a product card for guidance.

Simple but functional design. Quick to use which suits me best after babies when I want to get back to snuggling. Well thought out product right down to the beautiful, eco-friendly packaging. Perfect for that extra physical support needed after birth 🌻

                  The support I needed

I used the modern bengkung after the birth of my second baby. I honestly wished I had it for my first too!
I felt gently supported throughout my postpartum by using this literally straight away. My abdominals felt less tender and I really feel it corrected my posture making feeding less harmful on my back! I would shower then rub the vata oil head to toe as it’s so nourishing and then I would put my bengkung on. I would wear this to bed also as the night feeds really gave my abdominal separation a work out. The wrap really helped me. Highly recommend 💕
